Benefits for teaching assistants, marking assistants, grading assistants, and graduate assistants

Increasingly marking, grading and assessment is being done by sessional or contract staff. eMarking Assistant offers many advantages in these situations to both the examiner and the sessional staff.

Marking assistants, grading assistants, and graduate assistants benefit

Marking assistants and grading assistants will see an immediate reduction in the time needed to mark assignments or grade papers without a reduction in the quality of marking or feedback. This is especially true if the marking assistants are able to use a common comment bank or if they are marking in the same course and can use the comment bank from previous years.

Course examiners, course moderators, and course convenors also benefit

The course examiner or moderator also benefits because the sessional markers can be given a common comment bank which sets the tone for providing feedback to students and the required academic level. This is especially true if the examiner provides a basic comment bank to the sessional staff and a detailed marking rubric or grading rubric.

    • Hello Marie,

eMarking Assistant is an add-in for Word that helps teachers grade papers and mark assignments using Microsoft Word for Windows. eRubric Assistant (free) works on Windows and Mac and includes only the rubric component. If you send your rubric to me at Peter.Evans@eMarkingAssistant.com I will enter it into an eRubric Assistant document so it automatically totals, rescales and converts the marks and grade.
Feel free to send an email to Peter.Evans@eMarkingAssistant.com or use the CHAT button on the right of most pages on this site and I can assist you.
